HMAS Albatross redevelopment under the spotlight

The Public Works Committee has reviewed the proposed redevelopment of HMAS Albatross by conducting a site inspection and public hearing at the Royal Australian Navy base at Nowra this week.

HMAS Albatross supports a training helicopter squadron and two operational helicopter squadrons for the Royal Australian Navy.

The Department of Defence proposes to upgrade the infrastructure and engineering services at the air station, at an anticipated cost of $192 million.

The Committee reviewed Defence’s proposal to ensure the project is necessary, fit for purpose and signifies value for money for the Commonwealth.
